The Ideal Solution for Babies (and Parents)

Everyone Knows Breast Milk Is Best, but What’s Best After That?

Naturally gentle goat milk formula—who knew?! It’s closer to mom’s milk because goat milk formula contains i like human breast milk.1

And like breast milk, goat milk formula also contains a significantly higher amount of i than cow milk formula.1 That’s important for reducing GI issues, making goat milk a gentle formula option for tiny tummies.1 Now everyone can feel better.

A2 proteins

A gentler type of beta-casein protein common in both goat milk and human breast milk. In fact, casein composes 80% of milk’s total protein content.1

A1 proteins

The type of beta-casein protein in cow milk formula.1 A1 has been associated with gassy side effects, including digestive problems and skin irritation.1

oligosaccharide [ol·i·go·sac·cha·ride]

Also known as human milk glycans, human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are simple sugars found in high concentrations in human breast milk.1 They develop the immune system, reduce infections and improve brain development and cognition.1-3

GOS [ga·lact·o ol·i·go·sac·cha·ride]

Galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) are prebiotic fibers made up of plant sugars that act as a food source for “good” bacteria in the intestines. They pass undigested into the colon where they increase bowel mass and promote the growth of certain bacteria (probiotics).1

β-palmitate (OPO) [be·ta pal·mi·tate]

Beta-palmitate is found in both human breast milk and infant formula and has been proven to promote benefits for gut health, growth and comfort.1

DHA [do·co·sa·hex·a·e·no·ic acid]

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an omega-3 fatty acid found in breast milk that is good for heart, body and brain development. Infants need DHA, especially during the first 6 months of their lives, so their brains, eyes and nervous systems can develop as they should.1

ARA [ar·a·chi·don·ic acid]

Arachidonic acid (ARA) is a type of omega-6 fatty acid important for visual development.1

What’s Good for Babies Is Good for Parents, Too

While goat milk formula is relatively new to the US, European parents have watched their babies thrive on it for years. They know the natural digestive benefits of goat milk make for less tummy rumbling and more sweet smiles and coos. A comfortable baby is a happy baby, which means everyone can rest easy.

“Our 4-month-old daughter suffered from colic until we started her on Kabrita goat milk formula. We are extremely happy with this product. It is easy on our daughter’s belly, dissolves very fast and doesn’t make lots of bubbles. She started to gain weight, sleep better and overall is thriving. Thank you!”

A Few Questions We’re Often Asked:

Many Americans have turned to European baby formulas for their high-quality ingredients and adherence to stricter EU regulations than required in the US. The EU bans certain added sugars, like corn syrup, from traditional milk-based formulas, and it requires that at least 30% of the carbohydrates come from lactose, the energy-giving carbohydrate in human milk.4 European formulas also offer more gentle formula options such as goat milk formula. However, it’s important to choose an infant formula that meets all FDA nutritional guidelines. Talk with your pediatrician before making any changes to your baby’s diet.

Fresh goat milk is creamy and has a gentle, mild and natural taste. Sensory testing with a third party reported that Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula is void of “off flavors” and described Kabrita as more “milky” and “creamy” than cow milk formula.

Look for a formula from a reputable brand that has been imported legally into the US. Formulas authorized by the FDA ensure they meet federal nutrient requirements for proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula combines the natural mildness of 100% Dutch goat milk with critical nutrients needed to ensure healthy growth and development in babies. It’s produced according to high European standards, including no GMO ingredients, no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and glyphosate free. Parent company, Ausnutria, is the leading formula maker in the Netherlands with over 100 years of dairy expertise.

Fresh, high-quality goat milk tastes sweet and mild, with little or no aftertaste. Farming practices, goat species and handling procedures may all play a role in the final product taste. It’s good to know babies enjoy the taste of goat milk formula, which can be credited to those smaller fat and protein molecules that make it a closer match to human breast milk. It’s good for their tummy and their taste buds!

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, lactose intolerance is uncommon in children under 3 years of age. While lactose is often blamed for a little one’s tummy troubles, it’s more likely a type of protein in cow milk formula causing their digestive issues. Lactose is the primary carbohydrate in breast milk. Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula also uses lactose instead of corn syrup solids or maltodextrin. Lactose-containing formulas, including Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula, are not suitable for babies with congenital alactasia or galactosemia.

While goat milk formula can be a good option for babies sensitive to cow milk, it still contains lactose and is NOT an alternative to cow milk formula for infants or toddlers with lactose intolerance. If you are unsure about whether your little one’s symptoms stem from lactose intolerance or a food allergy, it’s best to talk with your healthcare professional.

In general, the availability of goat milk formula has been limited compared to cow milk formula, as it is not as commonly used in the US. The good news: The FDA has recently registered Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula, which will be available in the US later this year.

It’s easy to transition from breast milk to goat milk formula.
Make a 5-day plan.

All transitions go smoothest when small changes are introduced over time. Start your little one on Kabrita Goat Milk Infant Formula by slowly introducing it into their current milk and gradually increasing the ratio over five days.* If you’re using 8-oz. bottles instead of 4-oz. bottles listed below, simply double the quantities.

*Always prepare formula(s) as directed before combining in the bottle. Over or under dilution of formula can impact nutrient levels.

Goat milk formulas are not recommended for children with a confirmed diagnosis of cow milk protein allergy (CMPA). There may be a risk of cross reactivity associated with goat milk protein for children with CMPA. It is not advised for children with CMPA to consume goat milk or goat milk-based formula.

Goat milk formula can be found in US specialty stores and online retailers. You can check with your local health food stores, natural food stores or baby boutiques to see if they carry goat milk infant formula.
